Canceled my reservation and the agent was not friendly hung up on me without saying good bye or thank you. Didn't get his name. He had an accent of Indian decent. I have talked to him before calling about my over 700 dollar reservation for three nights. He said all the rooms are ocean front in a snarky way like I am supposed to know that because I have been there before. His hospitality is horrible and why he a front desk agent is beyond me.

Hotel needs a renovation badly. Service very inconsistent in pool areas. Kids pool was out of control since lifeguards were not bothered. Far too expensive for what you get in return.

We stayed here in 2019 so we thought nothing of booking our stay here for four days this summer. Unfortunately, the hotel has gone downhill and so has their customer service. We booked our stay for mid-July, busy season, “on season,” and from the time we checked in, it was a nightmare. It was not the room we initially booked, it was over the kids pool so there was noise for most of the day. We were traveling with two young children ourselves, so having some quiet for our infant to nap was not an option over the children’s pool. Our room was not serviced even when asking the housekeeping staff directly or calling to the front desk which left us with the same sheets, sandy room, no towels…. I think that I could let go of those things if the room itself wasn’t filthy when we arrived. There was no evidence anyone had cleaned anything. Hair on the shower and toilet, our toilet paper holder was broken so the roll of tissue sat on the damp bathroom floor, sand everywhere, kitchenette counters dirty, all the dishes in the cabinets were visibly dirty with food on them. My biggest grievance was the mold and moisture damage that was apparent on every vent and fixture. When I tell you nothing looked or *felt* clean, I mean it. We spent $100 at food lion at 11pm the first night we arrived to buy cleaning supplies. I brought up the issue to the concierge the next day and she was dismissive and told me she’d have the room “looked at” but because it was a “high traffic” hotel, the rooms would be a bit worn. I understand this, beach hotels are going to show signs of wear and tear, totally get that. She told me my option was to consider staying elsewhere, recommending the holiday inn down the street. No offer to help beyond that.

I brought the issues up once more when checking out, mentioned it made our stay uncomfortable and she said the exact same thing, if we weren’t happy with our stay, consider the holiday inn for our next trip. This was discouraging and unprofessional, not to mention inconsiderate of the time and money we spent to stay here and then to clean the room on our time and dime.

Other than the filthy room and unpleasant customer service, the baby pool was worn with visible damage. The food wasn’t great. The ground level smells like cigarettes from the people smoking directly outside the doors. All in all, the place needs a facelift and a lot of work. Customer service needs improvement as well. The ocean view and the location are quite literally the only two things I can say are great about this place.

I don’t recommend this hotel and I wouldn’t stay here again.

I stayed in Suite 215 this past weekend. The layout was spacious and well-designed, featuring a living room, kitchen, and master bedroom. The suite was centered around the pool area with a beautiful ocean view, which we really enjoyed.

However, the experience had some drawbacks. The bathtub in the bathroom was unclean, and there was a persistent loud noise—likely from the air conditioning—that made it difficult to relax. Despite reaching out for assistance, the staff said the hotel was fully booked and couldn’t offer a solution. The maintenance person we spoke with seemed frustrated and mentioned being overworked, which came off as unprofessional.

We ended up purchasing a sound machine just to drown out the noise at night. On a more positive note, the breakfast at the on-site restaurant was excellent.

Overall, the stay was decent, but the staff’s attitude and the maintenance issues left a negative impression. With better management and attention to guest concerns, this could be a much more enjoyable experience.

We love staying at this hotel when we come to OCMD! The rooms are clean and the restaurant is great. The views are also beautiful. My only recommendation is to make sure the front desk is giving people the correct information regarding the pool. I was told I could go in at 8 by the front desk and then asked to leave when I set up at 820 the next day by the lifeguard because they don't open until 9. Other than that great stay!

The location is great, right on the beach. We stayed in a pool side suite, beautiful room, nice pool bar, separate pools for kids and adults. My only complaint is the cleaning service. we had to ask to have our room cleaned, all they did was replace towels, no cleaning and did not even make the bed. That wouldn't stop me from going there again but it would be nice to pay better attention when you asked to have the room cleaned.

Perfection!!! Beautiful property - clean and elegant! Staff was great and the amenities were just great! A wonderful kiddie pool with slides and a lazy river - my kids had a blast and spent hours! Also has the Jolly Rogers park at a walkable distance, a convenience store and fast food! We loved having the kitchen which was so well equipped to make a quick breakfast, coffee, etc!! Beautiful living room which gave the kids extra space to hangout!! Overall perfect

My family and I had a recent stay at Hotel Monte Carlo in OC, MD. (Checked out on 8/13/25)

Our thoughts/experience—

#1-Parking isn’t great. The hotel has 2 lots across the street from the hotel, but neither are ideal for larger SUVS.

#2-Hotel staff aren’t helpful and are uninterested.

#3-There’s ONE elevator for a big hotel, so you’ll be waiting.

#4-At first glance, room looked great…until we started settling in and took closer look. The tile in the entryway/bathroom looked like it hadn’t been mopped in a while. The shower and bathroom counter also looked like it hadn’t been cleaned. The kitchenette wasn’t much better—the counter hadn’t been cleaned, the fridge had strands of hair and crumbs throughout, the microwave was dirty, and the complimentary coffee packets were sticky!

#5-The air vent was visibly filthy.

#6-We stayed for 2 days and housekeeping never cleaned our room or provided clean towels. We had to call down to the front desk several times for towels and it took upwards of 2 hours to receive them! We had to specifically request that our entryway and bathroom be mopped and the carpet to be vacuumed while we headed out for the night as we tracked a little sand in from the beach earlier in the day. We can’t confirm or deny if that was done, but it didn’t look like it was. In fact, there was a small clump of sand next to the bathroom garbage can that was never cleaned. In addition, our trash in both the bathroom and closet area were overflowing so we also asked for that to be removed. That was done. I want to note that this request was made to the front desk as housekeeping was gone for the day and completely skipped over our room. Interestingly enough, earlier in the day when we were heading out, housekeeping was cleaning the room next to ours.

#7-The dresser, inside dresser drawers, night stand, and table were also all visibly dirty.

#8-The phone was disconnected and the clock was unplugged.

Thankfully I brought wipes with us so I was able to wipe down everything, but it was an incredibly frustrating knowing this should’ve been taken care of by housekeeping. The couch cushions were also on backwards, but that was the least of the issues we experienced. I’m mentioning it to show the carelessness.

As a former hotel housekeeper, this is UNACCEPTABLE, UNSANITARY, and HIGHLY CONCERNING!

This hotel does have the potential to be great! Great location, spacious rooms, and nice amenities, but major changes need to be made first.

I have reached out to the hotel for 2 days now to get in contact with Chris Braun (general manager), but have to yet to get a call back. It feels like I keep getting the run around from the front desk.

Ideally, my fiancé and I would like money taken off our bill for all the inconveniences. I’m not confident that will happen, but we’ll see. From reading other reviews, Chris seems responsive to reviews, so our hope is that he makes the situation right. Chris—the front desk has my name/contact info. I look forward to hearing from you! Thank you.

Every aspect of this hotel was traumatizingly bad, all around and in every aspect. The online photos are extremely edited and deceiving. Every corner looked like it had not been touched in months. There was mold on the ceiling in the bathroom. Found a random used towel sitting on the bathroom counter when we arrived. I could hardly turn the shower on because the handle started detaching from the wall. The room smelled nasty and stale. The beds are hard as a rock. If you want towels, you have to pick them up at the desk. Entire hotel from the lobby to the rooms was so unappealing and dirty. The front desk staff could use serious customer service training. I can’t describe how unhygienic and unfriendly this hotel was. Parking is not directly at the hotel, you have to walk down the street to your car. I have stayed at much cleaner and cheaper motels. Including one right down the road. Don’t be hopeful that this place is nice and do not pay this hefty price to feel like you are staying in a dirty motel. The only “positive” I guess was that you can walk to the beach within 1-2 mins.

I originally responded with this same feedback to the hotel email they sent asking if "everything was to my liking". Since I got no response from them there I am now posting my concerns in this review. I visited OC during the 1st week of August and was very dissatisfied with the service at the Monte Carlo. The bathroom was stocked with dingy wash cloths & there was no soap in the shower dispenser for my entire 3 night stay. I had to go out and purchase dish detergent to clean the coffe pot which had not been cleaned in an extremely long time. My room was not cleaned and completely overlooked on my last night there - not cleaned at all! The jacuzzi was used & still has the same dirty towels left. The trash can has not been emptied, and the bed has not been made. It is rare for me to complain however, the service here is severely lacking considering the nightly cost of the room. The front desk staff who's been on duty for the last 2 days shows no customer service basically ignoring everyone unless they ask for something. I do not plan to return and will not recommend this hotel to anyone visiting OC.

You would be better off staying at a $500 motel. This hotel is absurdly priced, I can’t even say it’s ideal for where it’s located for the beach. I recommend staying anywhere else BUT here.

Firstly, we booked this hotel on the hotels app. The pictures on there are NOTHING like it portrays online. The rooms are disgusting. Walls are ridiculously dirty. The mini fridges leak. You get tissue paper for blankets. Stains/hair on the sheets. The beds are VERY uncomfortable. The shower would NOT drain when we tried showering, which we advised our complaints to the front desk and they did NOTHING for us. Then the parking lot is absolutely outrageous with how tight the spots are. Just don’t stay here….ever. This was an absolutely awful experience staying somewhere in OCMD.

To call this a hotel is absurd. Save your money and go stay somewhere else a lot nicer.

The only thing this hotel has is location. To start parking is obscure and across the street with very tight spots. My wife's car was dinged in the lot not. The rooms looks way better in the pics than in reality. The drop ceiling was gross full of water damage, towels felt like sandpaper. Same as their blanket. The room was dirty. The hot tube looked like it wasn't cleaned in weeks. Hairs in it, food stains around the hot tub. Black mold above the tub. We ran into the housekeepers where we saw them putting their personal wayer bottles on the clean linens. To later see the same girl with the same wayer bottle on the dirty linens. The only reason we didn't ask for a different room was because they were at capacity and we weren't about to leave and attempt to find a room the day of. Front desk staff was good for the most part. Absolute would not stay there again. It's location was not worth it.

3.....The first room we got which was the partial view of the ocean had mouse droppings or what looked like mouse droppings along with chip crumbs in the pull out sofa bed. The sheet that was on that bed was all wet as well. So obviously no one opened it and cleaned it. So we were moved to a room without a partial view which I paid extra for and that pull out sofa bed had black hairs ALL OVER it like long hairs so no one cleaned that one either. Then the shower in that second room and bathroom were covered in those same black hairs. I was a housekeeper years ago and I know its a pain to get all the hairs out of a white bathroom but we did it anyways. When I booked the room it said breakfast was included and it was in fact not included. There was a cafe attached to the hotel but you had to pay for breakfast. Also had to pay for parking to stay at the hotel I paid to stay at. These were things I wasn't expecting and was bummed by it and disappointed as well. My kids had fun otherwise but we will stay somewhere else next year which bums me out because I was hoping this would be our Ocean City place to stay.
