Guest Reviews of these Mackinaw City Hotels

The hotel was outdated, not very clean, not very comfortable, and all of our staff encounters were very rude.
I did not feel welcome at all when we checked in, they did not look at me the entire time, did not explain any of the amenities or even give the breakfast schedule or location. I had to find the room on the map on the counter.
The room was not nice for what we paid, especially compared to other places we have stayed. The sink is about a foot away from the end of the counter, which makes it impossible for a small child to wash their hands and brush their teeth as well as my 8-month pregnant self to try to lean over to it.
I didn't notice until we were already getting settled but the bathtub was not properly cleaned, there was hair on the floor in the corner of the room, and the sink was grimy. The beds at least appeared clean but they were terribly uncomfortable, we were up tossing and turning every hour. We didn't notice until our second night but the room had no smoke detector. There was a small humidifier running that beeped loudly when it needed us to empty it.
They advertised cheaper ferry rates so we went to the desk to purchase tickets and the lady there was so rude about it, she just printed the tickets and told me the price and I told her no I'll buy them at the ferry since that is the same price and she tried to tell me she had to charge me since she already printed them. When we asked her why she printed them without telling us the price, she just got huffy and told us nevermind I'll take care of it. Never told us about the different ferry companies or where they were at, no customer service at all.
When we checked out, we told them that the room was missing the smoke detector and they were so rude about it; they asked 'well did you let us know that it was missing?'. We shouldn't have to look for it, it is fire code. Every interaction with their staff was negative.
The vending machines did not work and the prices were expensive anyway.
The breakfast was terrible, we didn't even end up going to get it our second morning there.
At least the beach access was nice but there is easy access for anyone to go there, you definitely do not need to be staying at the hotel in order to get to the beach, which we saw a lot of.
Even the city offerings have gone downhill since we were last there in 2017, so many cheaper, crappy $14.99 and less t-shirt stores than any kind of local offerings and artsy stores. At least the island was still nice.
